CRASH PROBE: It could be more than a year before the cause of New Zealand ’s worst aviation crash in 17 years is known. Nine people were killed in the crash at Fox Glacier, on the West Coast, on Saturday, when their plane crashed and burst into flames shortly after take-off. Their bodies were removed and taken to Auckland for autopsies. The Fletcher aircraft was carrying a party of skydivers and clients from Skydive New Zealand . The police named the victims as pilot Chaminda Senadhira, 33, of Queenstown; and divemasters Adam Bennett, 47, Motueka; Michael Suter, 32, New Plymouth; Christopher McDonald, 62, Mapua; and Rodney Miller, 55, Greymouth. Patrick Byrne, 26, Ireland ; Glenn Bourke, 18, Australia ; Annita Kirsten, 23, Germany ; and Brad Coker, 24, England, were killed, too. Transport Accident Investigation Commission inspector Ian McClelland said the could take more than a year to complete. – NZPA
